MCP & Agent Skill

The Icons8 MCP server lets AI agents search icons and get their PNG and SVG links.

MCP server

The server is at https://mcp.icons8.com/mcp/. It requires signing in to your Icons8 account with OAuth: your client opens the sign-in itself the first time it connects. Pick your client and copy the configuration.

Agent Skill

The Agent Skill teaches an agent when and how to use the Icons8 icons. Install it as a Claude Code plugin from github.com/icons8/agent-skills.

What the skill does

The skill keeps a project on one consistent set of Icons8 artwork instead of a pile of mismatched pieces. Before it searches, it lists every icon a screen needs. It picks one icon pack for the whole project and records it in icons8.json, previews the choices with free PNG links and fetches SVG only for the approved set. The repository has more skills:

  • icons8 picks and fetches icons for UIs, prototypes, landing pages, slides and docs.
  • ouch chooses Icons8 illustrations (Ouch!), including animated ones.
  • icons8-design runs a design pass over a finished screen and returns one report: it routes the work to the checks for assets, UX, copy, polish, motion and design tokens.

Example request

Ask the agent in plain words. The skill starts on its own when the task needs icons or mentions Icons8:

Add icons to the settings screen: profile, notifications, billing and delete account. Keep one consistent Icons8 style.

The agent lists the icons the screen needs, picks one pack and locks it for the project, shows the choices as PNG previews and pulls the final set once you approve it.

Install the skill

Pick your client. A plugin installs the skill together with the MCP server. The npx command installs the skill alone, so connect the server above as well.

/plugin marketplace add icons8/agent-skills /plugin install icons8@icons8
